Exactly how precise we are in our choice of raw materials: our insight during a visit to one of the boutique essential oil distilleries in France

Last year, we had the honour of accepting an invitation from our trusted partners – renowned essential oil producers – to visit their base and their plantations in a region of France where only organic cultivation is allowed. This visit gave us the opportunity to observe at close quarters the strict standards in the cultivation and distillation of the high-quality ingredients that are fundamental to our products.

Meticulous sourcing in the heart of Provence

The journey took us directly into the fields of Provence. Here, Roman chamomile, thyme, lavender and other plants are grown under optimal conditions, ensuring the highest natural quality. Walking through these fields, we were struck by the meticulous attention to agronomic practices aimed at preserving the integrity and potency of each plant.

Precision and expertise in distillation

Although our visit coincided with an unexpected delay in the lavender harvest due to bad weather and we were unable to attend the distillation process, the experience was invaluable. We were reassured that they have the expertise and adaptability needed to deal with the unpredictable nature of agricultural production, once again underlining our partners’ commitment to maintaining quality despite natural challenges.

Impact on our product development

Visiting the distillery enriched our understanding of the journey of essential oils from plant to bottle. This lesson reinforced our decision to only work with producers who are as committed to quality and sustainability as we are.
